Exeter University Orchestra Visit

What a tremendous experience was offered to Bickleigh School pupils and members of the local community by the Exeter University Orchestra in Bickleigh Church yesterday. The entertaining conductor made sure the afternoon was a true delight for one and all. He explained to the children the role of the Conductor and the different instruments - violin, viola, oboe and cello - asking the University students to demonstrate the sound each made. The orchestra played Handel, Mozart, Rutter and other music with star Bickleigh pupil of the aftern0on, Olivia, after a few instructions. conducting the orchestra herself for one of the pieces. Something she will long remember. Many thanks to the school for arranging this event which was part of the children's study of European Civilization. My own musical education at school was never as exciting as this!
