Bomb Unearthed in Bickleigh

Who says nothing exciting ever happens in Bickleigh? Local residents Greg and Rebecca had a shock on Bank Holiday Monday when a World War 1 mortar bomb was discovered in their garden. The bomb, a Priest Mortar, was found lying amongst rubble and was most likely put there many years ago, possibly as a souvenir or keepsake. Greg heroically placed the mortar on nearby waste ground until the Police and Bomb Squad arrived and removed the device to Plymouth, where it was destroyed in a controlled explosion.
